Today, GS3 CEO and Co-Founder Lisa Lunsford spoke at the first Detroit Future City Equity Forum. Lisa discussed education challenges and increasing economic equity in Detroit with several hundred community members and thought leaders assembled for the forum.
Lisa discussed the merits of two educational paths that can promote economic equity in Detroit and throughout Southeast Michigan: four-year college and training for skilled trades. She suggested that educators leverage students’ interests in skilled trades and entrepreneurship.
The DFC Equity Forum focuses on equity, engagement and advancing its research portfolio. The DFC itself is a “nonprofit charged with catalyzing implementation of the DFC Strategic Framework, a 50-year vision for the City of Detroit developed with input from more than 100,000 Detroiters.”
